ALUMNI NEWS -- We will be sporadically profiling Goucher Riding alumni on our blog. This month's alumn of choice is donor, friend, and avid equestrian Sue Ellen Marder O’Connor, '71.
O'Connor did not stop riding once she graduated from Goucher. She teaches school in Springs (East Hampton, New York), but her summers and weekends are spent on a horse. This summer she competed for two weeks on the HITS Show Circuit in Saugarties, NY. Although the circuit lasted most of the summer, Sue Ellen accumulated enough points in the two weeks to be awarded circuit champion in two divisions. With her horse The Closer, she led after winning championship both weeks in the Adult Hunter division and on a borrowed horse for the equitation championship both weeks. Her 15 blues added up to her circuit awards in both divisions. Sue Ellen trains with her sister and niece who own a lay-up and retirement horse farm in Wake Virginia. She also maintains her close ties with the Goucher College Riding program.
Thank you, Sue Ellen, for everything you do!! :)
