Eighteen of the top Equestrian teams in the nation, including the Goucher Varsity Equestrian team, traveled to Randolph College this past weekend, to attend the annual Pre-Season Classic Tournament of Champions.
It was a very close race right up to the end of the day, with only seven points separating the 1st and 8th place teams. Some of the larger Equestrian programs brought two full teams, with three and four Tournament of Champions Collegiate medal riders each. Goucher finished the day with 23 points, tied for 7th with SCAD.

The Tournament of Champions Collegiate Medal is a special competition for the best Open riders from each team to compete in a Cacchione Cup style contest. At the Pre-Season, 22 riders competed on the flat, 9 were invited back to compete on a course over fences, and the top three from the two first contests were called back to perform a mounted equitation test. Junior Joey Fink won the Collegiate Medal, for the first time in Goucher history!
In addition, every point rider on the Goucher team ribboned at the Pre-Season Classic! Other individual Gopher team highlights included:
